Nice touches to the new bbc development on langham place

The new BBC development at Langham Place will house the BBC’s national radio networks as well as hosting the BBC’s national and international news operation (an extra 10,000 BBC staff).

The new development of Broadcasting House (designed by Sir Richard MacCormac) echoes the original Grade II listed Broadcasting House built in 1932. Next time you walk down Portland Place look up for the subtle connections between the iconic radio mask and the new façade.  Design aspects also mirror John Nash’s All Souls Church which it flanks.

Inside the building will be 10,000 miles of cabling, one of the largest news rooms in the world and 140 acoustic radio and music spaces. Phase two will be completed in 2012.
